Drugs were transported in a taxi and a van with vegetables


The criminal organization, whose members were involved in the supply, storage and trafficking of drugs in the area of ​​greater Athens, was liquidated by the Sub-Directorate for Combating Drugs of the Attica Security Directorate. Approximately 115 kg of cannabis were confiscated.

As part of an organized police operation, two members of the organization – a 31-year-old citizen and a 48-year-old foreigner – were detained on Thursday morning (12.22) in the districts of Nea Smyrni and Neo Heraklion, Attica, for violating the law on addictive substances.

Other members of the organization are also being sought.

In terms of working methods, the members of the organization used taxis and a horticultural van as company vehicles to ensure their outreach.

On Thursday morning, a 48-year-old man was detained in Nea Smyrni in a taxi with 21 nylon bags containing 24 kilograms and 400 grams of raw cannabis, with the aim of further sale.

On the same day, in the Neos Heraklion area, police found a 31-year-old man inside a cargo van with 40 plastic bags containing 48 kg and 900 grams of raw hemp.

During the search conducted in the houses, in the warehouse and in the official transport of the defendants, the following were found and seized:

  • 8 grams of cocaine
  • a lot of plastic bags containing 2.8 kilograms of processed hemp and 40.190 kilograms of raw hemp,
  • 3 precision electronic scales,
  • amount 1050 euros,
  • 10 mobile phones.
  • The taxi and truck used to transport them were also confiscated.

The expected financial benefit from the activities of the criminal organization exceeds 700,000 euros.

Those arrested, with a case initiated against them, were taken to the prosecutor’s office for criminal cases in Athens.
