Bloody shootout between gypsies in Diavata

Last Sunday evening, a shootout occurred in Diavata (Thessaloniki): a 19-year-old young man shot three people. As a result, a man was injured.

According to reports, the incident occurred due to personal differences between two Romani families said to be related to each other. It was preceded by a telephone conversation and then followed by a verbal altercation.

The teenager drove his car to the house of the feuding family and, as soon as he stopped, pulled out a gun and shot three times at three people who were in the yard, with one bullet hitting a 34-year-old man in the head and seriously wounding him.

Panic began in the village, and by a lucky chance, two other people, 34 and 26 years old, who were with the victim, were not injured. The wounded man was taken first to the medical center and then to Papageorgiou Hospital, where he was given first aid and is still being treated.

A crew from the Northern Greece Criminal Investigation Department responded to the scene to photograph and collect evidence, and as part of the investigation, with the assistance of the Crime Prevention and Suppression Department, a pistol with a three-round magazine was found and seized from the teenager's home in the Kordelios area.

A case of attempted murder with malicious intent and illegal possession of a weapon has been opened against the shooter, which will be transferred to the competent judicial authorities.
