Greece does not accept visa applications from Russian citizens

The Greek Visa Application Center has suspended the acceptance of documents for visas from citizens of the Russian Federation.

From June 27, applications will not be considered at consular offices in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novorossiysk, reports posted on official website ad:

Dear Applicant! For technical reasons, the Consulate General of Greece in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novorossiysk stops processing visa applications for an indefinite period. Applicants who have an appointment at the Visa Application Centers starting from 27.06 can reschedule their entry to a later period after the places have been added to the electronic entry system on the ru-gr.gvcworld.eu website. All visa centers will be open for consultations, processing and issuance of passports that were submitted until 24.06 inclusive. Thank you for your understanding!

The visa center explains that “technical reasons” are to blame. The timing of the resumption of the issuance of visas is not specified. A little earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Greece is more is not a safe place for recreation of citizens of the Russian Federation, since “cases of aggression and discrimination” against Russians are recorded there.

Today our publication reported that the Greek Civil Aviation Authority informed: a ban on flights from Russia and Belarus extended until September 2022. It was announced as part of the sanctions imposed by the European Union in connection with the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In a widespread statement of the Civil Aviation Authority (Υπηρεσία Πολιτικής Αεροπορίας), it is reported that aviation directives banning the flights of Russian and Belarusian aircraft in the national airspace of Greece remain in force until September 22.
