Shortly before 10 am, Crete was rocked by tremors measuring 4 on the Richter scale.
The surface earthquake was registered by the Geodynamic Institute. Its epicenter was located at a distance of 41 km southwest of Gavdos. According to the automatic solution of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center and the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, the focal depth was only 8.8 km.
