PASYDA President Andreas Chios said that the cost of renting two nights is the same price as New Year’s Eve in a restaurant. “Almost all properties in Thessaloniki are booked, even in the city. Following the new anti-covid measures, people rushed to book last-minute accommodations to have fun with family or friends on New Year’s Eve in a relaxed atmosphere, ”said Chios, noting that similar interest was expressed by German, English and Russian French tourists.
Fine 50,000 euros
Since summer 2020, Airbnb has announced a global ban on all indoor parties and events until further notice due to coronavirus restrictive measures, but there are many who have ignored the measures and the risk of the virus spreading by renting houses and villas to have fun with friends without compliance with any protective measures.
If neighbors hear a noise, they may notify the property manager and stop the party, or even call the police. “If a businessman claims that an event is being held without his knowledge, then he will not have a problem,” said the PASYDA President, stressing that “fortunately, the fines have been increased because the amount of 2,000 euros turned out to be trifling compared to income.
“I think that the € 50,000 fine will be a very disincentive factor,” the expert said.
