Former Radio Arvyla co-host arrested for video "out of revenge"

Former co-host of the hit TV show Radio Arvyla, Statis Panagiotopoulos, was arrested Wednesday after new victims of revenge pornography lodged complaints.

Panagiotopoulos surrendered to the Cybercrime Police Department on Wednesday afternoon, after the prosecutor announced his arrest warrant.

Panagiotopoulos is expected to remain in the detention center of the Thessaloniki Police Headquarters overnight and report to the prosecutor on Thursday.

As we reported earlier, the program Radio Arvila fired him from a satirical show ten days ago, after a former co-host girlfriend accused him of posting his private moments on porn sites without her consent.

On Wednesday morning, the lawyer for one of the victims, Apostolos Litras, told state broadcaster ERT TV that an arrest warrant for Panagiotopoulos could be issued within a day.

According to the lawyer, a lawsuit was filed against Statis Panagiotopoulos late Tuesday night for disclosing personal data.

“We are talking about 9 videos that, as we know, are posted on the Internet,” the lawyer told ANT1 TV earlier.

“This is material from personal moments with his sexual partners, offered” for all to see “without their knowledge,” – said Litras.

The lawyer said that the investigation has yet to find out if the posting of erotic videos on the Internet has brought financial benefits to Panagiotopoulos. “If the amount exceeded 120.00 euros, it will be a serious crime,” said the lawyer.
