According to data published by the British edition confused.com, one of the first countries in Europe to steal cars is Greece.
Research data from the UK’s largest insurance website comes from official reports of car thefts from 35 European countries between 2011 and 2019. Based on them, Greece ranks 5th in Europe in terms of the number of car thefts, as an average of 255 car thefts per 100,000 inhabitants or 76 car thefts per day are recorded annually. This means that every 19 minutes a car is hijacked in Greece.
The country with the highest number of car thefts per 100,000 inhabitants is Italy, with 276 thefts, followed by the Czech Republic with 274, Sweden with 266 and France with 261.

It is worth noting that Denmark has the lowest number of car thefts per 100,000 inhabitants (5), followed by Romania (19) and Liechtenstein and Croatia (22).
In addition, France, with 474 car thefts every day (or 3 thefts per minute!) Is the country with the most thefts in all of Europe, followed by Italy with 455 car thefts per day. This is followed by the UK with 272 thefts and Germany with 159.
