Oil transit to Poland is limited for three days, the Belarusian state-owned enterprise Gomeltransneft reports on unscheduled repairs.
This was stated by Igor Demin, an official representative of the Russian company Transneft:
“Since yesterday, Gomeltransneft (Belarus) began unscheduled repairs on one of the branches of the Druzhba oil trunk pipeline, limiting pumping in the direction of Adamova Zastava (Poland) for approximately three days, while the planned target for the month is not being revised.”
The Druzhba oil pipeline was built in the 1960s. Through it, oil goes from the Belarusian city of Mozyr to European countries in the northern and southern directions. The first is provided by Poland, Germany, Latvia and Lithuania. The second is pumping oil to Croatia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary.
Formerly Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko threatened to block gas supplies to the EU if Europe imposes new sanctions. His threats were preceded by aggravation of the migrant crisis on the Belarusian-Polish border. According to Warsaw, from 3,000 to 4,000 migrants are currently on the border between Poland and Belarus, an emergency regime has been introduced on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border.
The head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, meanwhile, says that the EU refuses to discuss the crisis at the border. Vladimir McKay stated RIA Newsthat the European Union has stopped funding Minsk, to strengthen border infrastructure and the construction of centers for receiving migrants, from 2020. The reciprocal step of the Belarusians was the termination of compliance with the agreements with Brussels on the readmission to Belarus of migrants illegally entering the European Union from its territory.
