I feel sorry for the bird

According to Greek law, residents of the country are prohibited from catching and keeping wild birds in cages. A man on the island of Chios apparently did not know this, he caught and then kept 18 wild birds in cages, for which he himself was jailed. And the birds… were released.

During the course of the investigation, which was carried out after proper evaluation of the evidence, a revolver was found in the trapper's house, which he owned without legal requirements, which was seized and sent to forensic laboratories for ballistic examination.

The Forestry Department was subsequently called and examined the caged birds and determined that they were song species (finches, frisbees, goldfinches, shrikes, thrushes and sparrowhawks) that should be free in the wild.

Thus, the birds are confiscated and must be released into their natural habitat. A case has been opened against the criminal for violating the laws on weapons and the conservation of wild birds, with which he has been sent to the prosecutor of the Chios Public Prosecutor's Office.

*If the revolver had not been found, drugs would have been found. In such cases, a pretext for arrest can always be organized.
