Thousands of Turkish tourists arrived in Mytilene via visa express (video)

On March 30, the first stage of the program to issue express entry visas to Turkish citizens began, which greatly facilitates travel. The flow of tourists to Mytilene is rapidly increasing.

Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis noted:

“The first stage will include at least five of our islands, which already have developed infrastructure.”

As of April 11, 1,700 people have already arrived on ferries from Ayvali to Mytilene. By the end of this week, the number of Turkish tourists is expected to exceed 1,600.

At the port of the island there is a customs post for issuing an express visa, and then travelers are met by tour operators, writes newsbeast.gr.

Travel agents Panagiotis Hatzikiriakos and Aris Lazaris note that the weather in April is conducive to travel, and the flow of people arriving on the island is rapidly increasing. Everyone is happy: both tourists and hotel owners, restaurateurs, bus drivers and other representatives of commercial circles.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that the implementation of this process “represents a complex task” as it “requires the synergy of many ministries”: the Ministry of Aegean and Insular Policy is responsible for the courts, the Ministry of Citizen Protection is responsible for visas, border and citizen protection, the Ministry of Interior is responsible for municipal port funds and for all municipalities of the ten islands on which the entry visa will be valid.”

Mr. Gerapetritis emphasized that “the whole process has already been launched, the measure will be implemented gradually.” First stage will include at least five islands.
