The Verkhovna Rada voted for the adoption of a new law on mobilization


The Verkhovna Rada voted to amend the law on mobilization and military service. The bill passed with 283 votes in favor.

The votes were distributed by faction as follows:

  • “Servant of the People” 192;
  • EU” 0;
  • “Fatherland” 2;
  • “Platform for life and peace” 18″
  • “Voice” 16;
  • “Renewal” 16;
  • “For the future” 12;
  • “Dovira” 15;
  • Non-factional 12.

The amendments considered and taken into account by the committee after the document was adopted in the first reading helped to gain the required number of votes. It is not yet known whether anyone will introduce a resolution that could block the signature of the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada.

Before voting for the bill, deputies heard a speech by the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuri Sodol, who yesterday, together with Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky and Chief of the General Staff Anatoly Bargilevich, was summoned by the Verkhovna Rada to report.

Parliament, by 227 votes, excluded the provision on demobilization 36 months after service – Commander-in-Chief Syrsky asked for this in a letter to Defense Minister Umerov. He proposed adopting demobilization as a separate law.

The bill was adopted as a whole and sent to the speaker and president for signature, writes edition “Country”. It is expected that the head of state will not hesitate to sign it, which means the law will come into force in a month, i.e. around mid-May.

The Verkhovna Rada also voted for a resolution for the government to allocate money. For – 321 votes. In addition to salary (20-25 thousand hryvnia) and combat (100 thousand), defenders should also receive 70 thousand hryvnia for being “at zero”.
