On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, flights to and from Greek airports will operate as normal after a court ruled a four-hour shutdown was “illegal.”
The Athens Court of First Instance ruled the four-hour work break declared by the air traffic controllers' union illegal. The work stoppage from 8:00 to 12:00 was supposed to take place to honor the memory of a colleague, killed in the line of duty.
The Civil Aviation Authority, which sued the air traffic controllers, emphasized that its priority is to serve passengers and ensure their safety, as well as supporting the domestic tourism product, to which everyone working at the Civil Aviation Authority must contribute conscientiously and responsibly.
