Excessive or insufficient? Ukrainians' opinion on mobilization


Sociologists have found out how Ukrainians feel about mobilization under martial law in the country.

Survey responses indicate that 36% of Ukrainians consider mobilization in Ukraine insufficient, and 30% – optimal. And only 19% of respondents said that the level of mobilization into the ranks of the Defense Forces is excessive.

Survey was carried out Sociological group “Rating” commissioned by the International Republican Institute (IRI). The opinions of both men and women who consider the level of mobilization to be insufficient are approximately the same – 36% and 35%, respectively.

Among those who consider the level of mobilization too high there are more women – 21% versus 17% of men. Among this group of respondents, 84% believe in Ukraine’s victory. Among those who want to strengthen mobilization, 92% are confident of victory. The survey also showed that in the last three months before the survey, 76% of Ukrainians donated money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The survey was conducted February 17-21, 2024. 2 thousand residents of Ukraine aged 18+ years took part in it. The error of representativeness of the study with a confidence level of 0.95 does not exceed ±3.5 percentage points for the full sample. The reachability coefficient of respondents is 14%.
