The court announced the verdict in the case of a 12-year-old girl, finding Ilias Mihos guilty and the mother (accused of facilitating the sexual exploitation of her daughter) not guilty.
Judges found the 55-year-old convenience store owner guilty of rape, abuse of a minor under the age of 14, pornography of a minor (storage and distribution of materials through computer systems), pimping and illegal possession of weapons. The jury found the man not guilty of the charge only in human trafficking (he was accused of taking money from the girl when he sent her on “visits” to pedophiles).
The minor's mother was found not guilty of pornography and pimping. She was found guilty only of extortion. The girl’s mother herself burst into tears when she heard this decision.
Other defendants
As for the so-called “Miho,” he was found guilty of aggravated pimping and child pornography, and was also acquitted of attempted sexual activity with a minor. At the same time, the court decision found 16 defendants acting as “customers/clients” guilty by a majority vote committing the crime of sexual intercourse for reward, which is punishable by imprisonment for a term of up to 15 years and a fine.
The court acquitted six defendants and convicted 18 more. One defendant was also found guilty of child pornography. Thus, the six accused were found not guilty of committing or attempting to commit the crime of sexual intercourse.
The court's decision
Ilias Mihos, a 55-year-old convenience store owner, is recognized as:
- guilty by a 5-2 majority of rape
- guilty by a 4-3 majority of pimping
- guilty of child abuse
- guilty of distributing child pornography
- guilty of illegal possession of weapons
- not guilty in human trafficking.
Girl's mom:
- innocent of pornography
- found not guilty by a 4–3 majority in pimping
- found guilty of extortion offenses by a 6-1 majority.
A few days ago, the prosecutor proposed to drop charges of rape and pimping against Miho, which caused a reaction. The prosecutor also suggested that the mother of the girl from Kolonos is guilty of all the charges brought against her, including pimping. In fact, the prosecutor's proposal caused reactions, crowds and protest rallies. Incidents also occurred near a store owned by Michos (Kolonos district).
