The vote of no confidence was rejected: Voting result: 141 for, 159 against.

The speech by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at 22:30 today, Thursday 28/3, concluded the speeches of political leaders as part of three days of debate in the plenary session on the motion of no confidence in the government put forward by PASOK in the Tempi case.

The vote of no confidence put forward by PASOK and SYRIZA and supported by the New Left and the Freedom Course in parliament against the government in the Tempi case, was rejected 159 votes to 141 in favor, out of 300 members of parliament.

158 New Democracy MPs and independent MP Haris Katsivardas voted against the vote of no confidence.

As Parliament Chairman Costas Tasoulas noted, the three-day debate on this proposal lasted more than 40 hours, and a total of 163 speakers spoke. In particular,

  • The first meeting began on the morning of Tuesday, March 26, and ended at three thirty the next morning.
  • The second meeting began on the morning of Wednesday 27 March and ended at 3.35 am the next day.
  • The final session also began Thursday morning and ended with a roll call vote at approximately 11 p.m.

In total, 118 listed MPs, nine parliamentary representatives, 26 ministers, deputy ministers and deputy ministers, one former prime minister, eight chairmen of parliamentary groups and the prime minister spoke during the three days of debate.

Mr. Tasoulas also noted that this vote of no confidence lasted longer than all the others.

Shortly before the PASOK president took the podium, the resignations of two leading ministers, State Minister Stavros Papastavrou and Deputy Prime Minister Yiannis Bratakos, were announced from the Maxim building. The resignations, according to government sources, are related to their participation in a public event, which “gave the wrong signal.”

Opposition parties, which came out after the resignation was announced, attacked the government.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis responded in a raised tone to opposition criticism during his speech in parliament on the issue of impeachment of the government, paying particular attention to the issue of editing in the case of Tempi.

“They made a party banner out of universal suffering to hit the government and me,” “I was always and everywhere present,” Mitsotakis said, adding that it was time to dispel the myths by taking a clear-eyed assessment of the situation in the face of a suspicious and angry society.

Addressing the gallery and relatives of the victims who were watching the proceedings, he said: “I'm looking you straight in the eye: there was never an order to withhold information.”
