Parade of schoolchildren in Athens

At 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 24, a parade of Athens school students began in front of the Monument to the Unknown Soldier on Amalia Avenue in honor of the national anniversary of March 25, 1821.

On this day, Prince Alexander Ypsilanti, who led the armed uprising against the Turkish occupiers in Greece, addressed the Greek people with a speech and, recalling the glorious deeds of the ancient Hellenes, openly called for an armed struggle against the Turkish yoke.

Greek police remind you that during the parades, some streets will be closed to vehicle traffic.
