In April, the chain’s first restaurant outside Italy, Sophia Loren House, will open in a historic building in Hong Kong’s Wanchai district, in honor of the legendary Italian actress, who generously shares the secrets of eternal youth with fans.
The restaurant will be located in the four-storey Woo Cheong building, a heritage building in Hong Kong, and the interior will reflect the Italian era of the 1960s and 1970s, marked by Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita and the height of Sophia Loren’s film career.
Like four similar ones in Italy, this restaurant was designed by Italian architect Ivo Maria Rentaelli, who chose to decorate many works of art associated with Sophia Loren. Each floor of the unique establishment will have different offers:
- the ground floor will house a Neapolitan pizzeria;
- on the second, visitors to the Italian restaurant can expect classic dishes and seafood;
- on the third floor there is a dance floor in retro style from the 1970s;
- There is a cocktail bar on the roof.
Commenting on the opening of the restaurant in her honor, the legendary actress says, quotes CNN Greece:
“I have had many passions in my life, and one of them is undoubtedly food. No director could ever force me to go on a diet – and the hours I spent in the kitchen, kneading, frying and baking were some of the happiest of my life. When I was asked to create a chain of restaurants in my honor, I happily accepted this wonderful offer and am proud to be part of a group of talented Neapolitans who want to export the “truth” of Neapolitan cuisine to the world.”
Sophia Loren opened her first restaurant in Florence in 2021, in partnership with Neapolitan businessman and politician Luciano Cimino, and the chain has since expanded to Milan, Rome Fiumicino Airport and Bari.
