On Wednesday (1/5/2024) there were violent clashes during the May Day demonstration in Paris and French police resorted to brutal reprisals.
The police used batons and tear gas, and there were casualties.

Among the participants in the May Day demonstration were several hundred members of the “black bloc”, people dressed in black, with their faces covered with masks and hoods. Immediately after the start of the procession, windows began to be broken and bus stops were destroyed. The police intervened.

Rioters threw firecrackers, fireworks and glass bottles at them. The police then began to push back the protesters using batons.

They beat demonstrators on the ground and several people were injured. When the procession reached the Place de la Bastille, the police tried to separate the demonstrators into groups.
During the unrest, seven police officers were injured by an improvised explosive device and were rushed to hospital. 29 demonstrators were arrested. And demonstrators burned the Olympic rings in protest.
