Greece is the most popular destination for Austrians in 2024

The top tourist destination for Austrians in 2024 will be Greece, as shown by the international tourism fair Ferien 2024, held in Vienna from 14 to 17 March.

It is an international business platform for countries, regions and travel companies from all over the world to present their products and services.
Participants and visitors to the exhibition had the opportunity to meet with representatives of world tourism associations, industry regulators, find new clients and partners, and learn about industry trends at unique business program events. This is an effective business platform for advertising tourist routes, new tours, meetings with old partners, and establishing new business contacts.

According to TUI (exclusive partner of Ferien) and the results of orders made at the fair, Greece remains by far the most interesting destination for Austrians. Areas of particular interest are Crete, Rhodes, Kos, Karpathos, Corfu and Chalkidiki.

Bookings for the country’s largest air carrier, Austrian Airlines, begin on March 26. There will be direct flights to 21 Greek destinations: Athens, Thessaloniki/Chalkidiki, Kavala, Volos, Skiathos, Skyros, Preveza, Corfu, Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Araxos, Kalamata. And also to the islands: Rhodes, Kos, Karpathos, Samos, Lemnos, Mykonos, Santorini, Heraklion, Chania. The number of flights to Athens will increase by 20%, and there will be 4 flights per week to Mykonos.

There will be weekly flights from Vienna (Austrian Airlines) to Skyros, Lemnos and Thessaly. In terms of destinations, the maintenance and strengthening of the Vienna-Volos air route, as well as the opening of new air routes to Lesbos and Chios, are of great importance.

In addition, the new “flight programs” to Lesbos (from Innsbruck), as well as the Innsbruck-Karpathos and Linz-Skiathos lines, have also proven themselves well. In addition, Epirus, which is firmly established in the Austrian market, is showing a growing trend in demand for this tourist destination.
