Easter: holiday opening hours

The countdown has begun to the start of holiday opening hours for retailers ahead of Easter 2024.

In almost a month, stores will begin opening extended hours (about 10 days before Easter). This year’s holiday regime is expected to come into force from Thursday 25 April. In addition, on Sunday, before the start of Holy Week, stores will be open. Store opening hours during the Easter period will be as follows:

• Thursday, 04/25/2024: 09.00 – 21.00
• Friday, 26.04.2024: 09.00 – 21.00
• Saturday, 04/27/2024: 09.00 – 18.00
• Sunday, 04/28/2024: 11.00 – 18.00
• Maundy Monday 04/29/2024: 09.00 – 21.00
• Holy Tuesday 04/30/2024: 09.00 – 21.00
• Great Wednesday 05/01/2024: 09.00 – 21.00
• Maundy Thursday 05/02/2024: 09.00 – 21.00
• Good Friday, 05/03/2024: 13.00 – 19.00.
• Holy Saturday 05/04/2024: 09.00 – 15.00.
• Easter Sunday 05/05/2024: day off
• Monday, 05/06/2024: day off
• Tuesday, 05/07/2024: day off (due to the postponement of May Day).

As previously reported by Athens News, the date to which the May Day holidays will be moved was announced by the Minister of Labor of Greece, Domna Mikhailidou. As it was decided in government circles, mandatory May Day holiday (day off) is moved to Easter Tuesday, that is, May 7. Thus, Easter this year falls on May 5 and 1 more day has been added to the three-day weekend, i.e. extended until May 7 inclusive.
