How do the Russian presidential elections take place in Greece?

Russian Ambassador Andrei Maslov, speaking with Russian journalists, noted good preparations for the Russian presidential elections at polling stations in Greece.

Near the site in Athens, writes TASS, in the morning, approximately 50 people were waiting for the opportunity to vote at the Russian Center for Science and Culture. As a TASS correspondent noted, voting in the presidential election is active.

People came to the RSCC even before it opened at 08:00 (09:00 Moscow time). Those who want to vote constantly come up and are allowed inside, asking them to leave their bags in special cabinets with lockers that can be locked with a key. According to TASS correspondent estimates, more than 50 people are currently waiting to enter the polling station. The second site was opened in Thessaloniki at the Consulate General of the Russian Federation.

Andrei Maslov noted the good preparation for the elections at polling stations in Greece:

“Our preparations went well, in accordance with our legislation, the instructions of the Central Election Commission, the recommendations of our territorial Ministry of Foreign Affairs election commission. Therefore, we did everything possible to conduct qualified voting here in Athens, at our site in the Russian Center for Science and Culture and in “Thessaloniki at the base of our consulate general. There were no obstacles from the local authorities. Quite the contrary, in response to our note, we received an official written response with consent to hold voting in Athens and Thessaloniki.”

The diplomat noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has carried out the necessary work with the intelligence services and police, who ensure the security of the voting: “Therefore, we have no complaints against the local authorities regarding the organization of voting.”

Answering a question about possible provocations, the ambassador said that the diplomatic mission does not yet have any information: “We have taken all the necessary security measures. I hope that everything will go fine. But in such matters, as you understand, it is difficult to predict anything, Moreover, the situation is difficult.”
