The Chinese fell in love with the beauty of the iconic island of Santorini and wanted to make a miniature of it in Yunnan province in southwest China. They built a copy of the iconic island of Santorini, although far from the original landscapes, without the Aegean Sea, the volcano and… Greece.
Built in a mountain settlement called “Dali's Ideal State”, on the slope of the Kangshan mountain range, …Chinese Santorini “looks” over Lake Erhai.
The resort offers tourist hotels, boutique hotels, businesses, apartments, all in white, many with Cycladic blue domes, small winding streets decorated with blooming bougainvillea and other Mediterranean plants, panoramic views of the water and the famous Greek frappe coffee.
The resort has become a focal point and destination for many social media influencers in China.
It may not have the deep blue sea, the volcano, the famous caldera and the unique sunset light of the Aegean Sea, but there are general landscapes that can be perfect for… wedding photos of locals who can't afford to travel abroad but have always wanted an exotic one experience.

The Chinese resort of Santorini covers an area of 3,700 acres, with a total investment of 8 billion yuan or one billion euros.
For the Chinese, it is a prestigious tourist destination, attracting a population that cannot travel abroad but can afford “international experience” on the spot, notes the Greek state broadcaster ERT.
