DNA diet: studies have shown that to reduce the risk of developing diabetes, you need a special approach to nutrition


British scientists have established a relationship between diet and hyperglycemia. Their discovery will help people with prediabetes and stop the development of an incurable disease through nutritional correction.

Results of a study by experts from Imperial College London published at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. How writes The Science Times, it involved 148 people with high blood sugar and risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

A 26-week personalized menu was developed based on DNA. Personalized dietary advice based on genetic information was more effective in lowering blood glucose levels than standard dietary counseling, the study found.

This suggests that people who are genetically susceptible to chronic diseases such as hypertension, obesity, diabetes or high blood cholesterol should individually adjust the amount of carbohydrates, fats, proteins and other macronutrients they consume.

However, there is no doubt that in order to make sure that the new approach can be applied in clinical practice, scientists need larger-scale trials.
