A viper was found in the yard of the house

On Wednesday morning, March 13, the viper decided to “visit” the residents of Afanos (Lamia).

The owner of the house, familiar with nature, took care to remove the snake – the only species dangerous to humans. As he told LamiaReport.gr, the viper never attacks a person unless it feels threatened or you step on it, which happens mainly in fields where it is usually not visible in the grass.

Good weather, which lasted almost the entire winter, led to the fact that not only the plants bloomed before the arrival of spring, but also the animals woke up and “came out of hibernation” prematurely. Usually reptiles “wake up” in early April, but already in the first half of March “snakes are walking around the yards.”

Some snakes in Greece are considered endangered species (for example, the small viper). They are useful for nature and human society, as they feed on mice and rats, so it is better to ensure that they do not approach houses (by clearing front gardens and yards of grass and debris).

Unfortunately, many do not know about their “need”, and also that the vast majority of them are harmless, and they try to kill snakes, thereby facilitating the existence of other harmful animals.
