Mitsotakis on the missile attack in Odessa: "It was something terrible – we had nowhere to hide"

As part of the EPP (European People’s Party) conference in Bucharest, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in a conversation with journalists on the sidelines of the conference of the European center-right, focused in more detail on the incident in Odessa or, in other words, on the Russian warning about the blow inflicted on him and V. Zelensky.

The Prime Minister mentioned the ballistic missile attack in Odessa: “We all have a message for the Kremlin: we will not be afraid, we will continue to support Ukraine and its brave citizens for as long as it takes. And we remain united on this issue,” – said Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking at the EPP conference the day after the missile attack in Odessa, while he was on a visit to Ukraine.

“A person understands what war is. We were there for seven hours. For Ukrainians, this is an everyday reality. And this confirms the correctness of the choice EU support Ukraine against Russian aggression”, – Mitsotakis emphasized, making a political conclusion in addition to the incident itself. In his speech, he also stated that Europe must remain united on the issue of war.

However, when asked on a more human level about the feelings he and the members of the Greek delegation experienced during the sirens and then explosions in the port of Odessa, and what he now knew might have been the target, he replied:“We were all worried. When you remember that we were out in the open with no place to hide, it was very scary.”.
