Greece: 392 arrests in 24 hours in anti-crime operation


Last Sunday, the third of March, ΕΛΑΣ carried out a 24-hour action as part of the implementation of the strategic planning of the Hellenic Police Headquarters to combat crime and improve the level of security of citizens.

During police checks and actions, 392 people were arrested for various offences. 26,769 citizens and 19,481 vehicles were checked. As a result of the actions of ΕΛΑΣ:

  • 1,113 people were detained;
  • 5,457 violations of the Civil Procedure Code (Κ.Ο.K.) were recorded, including 43 violations of anti-tobacco legislation;
  • 397 vehicles were immobilized.

The policing action involved active teams involving visible and invisible police officers from various services, taking into account local operational plans and paying particular attention to areas and localities where there was an increase in crime.
