510 kilograms of olive oil were stolen from a tavern

In Chalkida, a city tavern belonging to the company “Μεζεδοπωλείο της Αργυρώς” was broken into Ε.Ε.

Police have moved to arrest a 27-year-old man who, along with an accomplice who is still wanted by police, stole a total of 1,200kg of sunflower oil and 510kg of olive oil. According to preliminary estimates, the total value of the stolen goods exceeds 5,000 euros.

According to the message ΕΛΑΣ, 15/02, at approximately 18:40, police officers detained a man born in 1977. He is accused of breaking down the restaurant’s door to get inside and steal cooking oil. Law enforcement agencies are looking for his accomplice.

Let us recall that since prices for olive oil rose sharply and the product even began to be called “liquid or green gold” (which had never been particularly protected before), things began to happen large-scale thefts.

The authorities intend to chip both the olive harvest and containers with oil so that they can later be tracked. “Where did the stolen goods go?”.
