Police officers from the Crime Prevention and Enforcement Unit (OPKE) of the Attica Department proceeded to arrest two people who were storing and selling large quantities of contraband tobacco products.
Operational measures for detention and arrest were carried out on January 29, 2024 in the Koridalos area. Citizens are accused of storing and illegally trafficking tobacco products that do not have appropriate tax markings and violating the National Customs Code.
According to police sources, a preliminary assessment of the information received was carried out. During the investigation, it turned out that the accused own a house in the Koridalos area, which they use as a warehouse for storing smuggled tobacco productswhich is smuggled illegally in the center of Athens.
In this context, police officers OPKE They were observed leaving the house and getting into a car, carrying three boxes of contraband cigarettes. During searches carried out in a car and a house, a total of 29,368 packs of cigarettes of various brands and 14 packs of tobacco without a tax stamp were discovered and confiscated.
Those arrested were taken to the competent prosecutor’s office.
