Weather: bad weather is approaching the east and south of Greece, snow will fall even in the lowlands

According to the latest forecast meteo.gr/EAA, the weather in the country will change significantly from Sunday 28.01 and especially during the three-day period from Monday 29.01 to Wednesday 31.01, when winter will come to the east and even the south of the country.

According to the weather service, the main characteristics of the approaching wave of bad weather are:

• significant drop in temperature,
• rain and storms, mainly in the South Aegean and especially in Crete, where very heavy rain is expected in the lowlands and high levels of snow in the highlands and foothills,
• locally heavy snowfalls in the mountainous areas and foothills of the eastern and southern parts of the country, as well as in the east of the mainland, Evia and the Sporades,
• locally a gale wind from the north.

The following forecast maps show the geographic distribution of events (blue rain, pink snow) during the morning and late evening hours of Monday, January 29th.
