Matthew Bryza: "Some NATO member countries may send troops to Ukraine"

Former Advisor to the US Secretary of State, ex-Director for European and Eurasian Affairs at the National Security Council of the United States Matthew Bryza said in interview on the Espreso TV channel:

“I think that it will not come to the actual presence of NATO military personnel on the territory of Ukraine. However, there are some members of the alliance who, not under the auspices of NATO, can send their own military forces and assets to Ukraine.”

He notedthat “the more Russia escalates, the more likely it is that some NATO member countries will intervene in the situation.”

NATO officials are known to say that none of the alliance members have any intention of sending troops to Ukraine. They also argue that one of the main current challenges is to prevent NATO countries from being drawn into direct war with Russia.

The Kremlin has repeatedly made it clear that the entry of any third country into the war on the side of Ukraine will be perceived by Moscow as a declaration of war by this state on Russia.
