Throughout the winter, Greece experiences continuous warm weather: sunny days and temperatures above 15°C, with short intervals of bad weather.
Typically, the meteorological phenomenon of sunny days with clear blue skies and warm temperatures of up to 20°C in mid-January is called “alkyonides”.
However, meteorologists warn that “spring weather” will persist in some regions with temperatures up to 22°C and end on Friday 19 January, before the weather deteriorates sharply within 24 hours, with snowfall even at low altitudes.
According to the latest forecasts, severe cold is expected on Saturday, January 20, mainly in the north of the country, while the central and southern regions will continue to bask in sunshine and warmth. According to available data, the current temperature is 6 degrees above the seasonal average.
