Koropi: more than 45 kg of cocaine and a Kalashnikov assault rifle were found in the cache

The drug squad has dealt a major blow to a cocaine trafficking ring in the northern suburbs of Athens.

During a search of a house in Koropi, a large quantity of cocaine was discovered, and earlier a 45-year-old member of the group was arrested in Kifissia.

As it became known from the Anti-Narcotics Unit of the Attica Security Directorate, the operation was planned and carried out yesterday afternoon (11-1-2024) in a house in Koropi, where, after a coordinated thorough investigation, they were found in specially designed hiding places in the boiler room and in the storage room weapons and drugs at home.

In particular, the following items were found:

• 45 kilograms and 167.3 grams of cocaine, including 36 standard packages, which were marked with a different logo on the outside and inside so that the specified quantity could be identified,
• Kalashnikov type assault rifle,
• pistol with two magazines,
• 149 rounds of various calibers.

The liquidation of the drug gang was preceded by the arrest of a 45-year-old foreigner, a member of a group involved in cocaine trafficking in the Attica basin, mainly in Western Attica and the northern suburbs, who was arrested by drug police in the Kifissia region. A bag containing 17.5 grams of cocaine was found and seized from him.

As the police stated, “The discovery and disruption of a group of cocaine traffickers was the result of systematic investigation, analysis and cross-information, physical surveillance and inspection of premises, individual data (profiling) in the context of the wider efforts of the above service to apprehend drug traffickers“.

Arrested with materials from a case filed against him for violating the law on drugs and weapons, he was taken to the Athens prosecutor’s office.
