Following Wednesday’s terrorist attack in Iran that killed more than 100 people and the killing of Hamas deputy leader Saleh al-Auri in Beirut on Tuesday, which was blamed on Israel, fears of a regional flare-up are growing.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said his fighters were not afraid of war but, in his first speech since Arouri’s death, avoided saying his forces would escalate attacks on Israel. However, he warned about “an unprecedented response if Israel declares war on Lebanon.”

On Wednesday, twelve countries led by the United States jointly warned Yemen’s Houthi rebels of consequences if they do not immediately stop attacks in the Red Sea, and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken travels to the Middle East on Thursday evening.

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks that killed about 100 people in Iran, the group said in a Telegram post on Thursday, Reuters reported. Iran’s state news agency earlier reported that two suicide bombers were behind the attack.

Recall that two bombs exploded on Wednesday within minutes of each other in Kerman, near the grave of Qasem Soleimani, who was killed in a US strike in 2020 in Baghdad.

He was killed exactly four years ago as a result of a US airstrike at the airport in Baghdad (Iraq). After the explosion, according to various sources, at least 100 people were killed and more than 280 were injured. The attackers apparently wanted to cause as many casualties as possible, since they knew that people would gather in the area in connection with the anniversary.

The head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and Vice President Mohammad Mokhber vowed revenge for the bombings. Mokhber told reporters from the hospital where he was visiting those wounded in the country’s deadliest terrorist attack since the 1979 Islamic Revolution: “Suleimani’s soldiers will take revenge very brutally.”

Shortly after the explosion, the United States and Israel declared that they had nothing to do with what happened in Iran, whose authorities spoke about the possible involvement of the Jewish state in the terrorist attack.

Over the past 90 days, as a result of Israeli attacks In the Gaza Strip, 22,438 Palestinians were killed, Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said.

At least 57,614 people were injured, most of them women and children.

Some 125 Palestinians have been killed and 318 wounded in the past 24 hours, he added. About 7,000 more people were missing or died under the rubble of their homes.
