A tourist bus carrying Greeks collided with a truck in Bulgaria (video)

Ten tourists were injured in a road accident in Bulgaria – a bus carrying Greek citizens collided with a truck: “passengers panicked and desperately tried to get out.”

How tells newsbeast.gr, out of 10 injured passengers, 8 were Greeks with Russian surnames. The incident, as Bulgarian media write, occurred in the area between the village of Volovo and the city of Borovo on the Ruse-Biala road, when a bus from Romania came around a bend and crashed into a truck coming from Turkey.

As a result of the accident, two Romanians, one of them the driver, and eight Greek citizens were injured, reports the news agency BNR.BG. The victims were taken to the Kanev hospital in Ruse for medical care. Only one woman with a traumatic brain injury was hospitalized and underwent surgery. The rest have various injuries and cuts.

Ms Vivi Sorra, who was on the bus, said that seconds after the bus collided with the truck, the interior resembled a bombed-out landscape as passengers panicked and desperately tried to get out:

“Suddenly I heard a noise and fragments fell into my eyes. Instinctively, I turn back and try to hold the children with one hand. People were screaming, panicking. Fortunately for us, the road was downhill, and we slid into a ravine on the right, below which a river flowed. Some jumped out of the windows, the one sitting in front of me was hit hard. There was blood on the woman.”

In the group of Greek tourists there was a doctor who immediately rushed for help. Dr. Grapsas says:

“The older group, who was sitting in front, because the impact was strong, received a severe head injury. And I don’t know if she had internal injuries. Others had minor injuries – to the chest, legs.”
