A plane carrying passengers caught fire at Tokyo airport (video)


A Japan Airlines plane caught fire today, January 2, on the runway at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.

By message Euronews, flames engulfed one of the plane’s engines. One of the wings of the airliner was seriously burned, and the plane’s engine rested on the ground. Fire crews are on the scene trying to put out the fire. There were about 400 passengers and crew members on board, reports Japanese TV channel NHK. All passengers and crew were evacuated.

According to NHK, the plane was flying to Tokyo from Hokkaido. The footage shows a huge flame engulfing the plane. The plane was almost completely burned down, firefighters are still fighting the fire, writes Air Force. The cause of the fire is unknown, but Reuters and NHK reported that the Japan Airlines flight may have collided with a Japanese Coast Guard aircraft after landing at Haneda.

The plane that caught fire was an Airbus A350 manufactured in 2021. This is flight JAL516.
