In Turkey, in the Dagdibi region, on the Istanbul direction of the highway, due to thick fog, 7 vehicles, including 3 buses and a truck, were involved in an accident.
Turkish TV channel TRT reportsthat as a result of a road accident in the north-west of the country, 11 people were killed and 57 were injured (as of 10 a.m.). According to the state news agency Anadolu, a seven-vehicle collision occurred on the North Marmara Highway, near Dagdibi district of Sangario province.
The causes of the disaster have not yet been established. Private news channel NTV reported that the area was shrouded in thick fog and visibility was poor. The governor of Sangario province told local media that all the wounded were taken to hospital. Stressing that investigative teams at the scene are still working to determine how the accident occurred, Mr. Karadeniz said:
“It is believed that it all started with a car crashing into a truck. Then other vehicles crashed into it. Again, early reports indicate that some were killed when passengers getting out of the vehicles were hit by another vehicle coming from behind.” “It is estimated that this is possible. These are the first conclusions right now, the important and decisive conclusions will be the conclusions made here by the investigative teams and our prosecutors.”
