The first meters of the new fence on the Greek-Turkish border, which will ultimately be 35 kilometers long, have already been built in the Psatades Didimoticho area.
In the bend that the Evros River makes, in addition to huge iron pillars five meters high from the ground, intermediate fence fragments and sheet iron are installed. At the same time, at a greater distance, about a kilometer long, columns have already been installed. The construction of a protective fence on the Greek-Turkish border is in full swing.
One of the Turkish villages, located directly opposite Psatades, on the other side of the Evros River, is “a den of illegal immigrants” who are waiting there for the opportunity to cross the river and enter Greek territory. Thus, it was decided to start installing a new fence from there.
The length of the new fence will be 35 kilometers, from the heights of the village of Psatades Didimoticho to the area of Kornofolia Soufliou. The fence consists of metal posts five meters high, on which special sheet metal will be placed to prevent climbing and barbed wire.
At the same time, new tracking points will be created, in particular seven above-ground ones. The protection of Greece’s borders involves the establishment of missile defense. The border with Turkey will have four outposts and four observation posts.
