The Ministry of Immigration and Asylum has officially started to legalize thousands of illegal immigrants, confirming information that Athens News published in September.
The legalization is carried out through an amendment-supplement, which was presented today to the insurance bill of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, and effectively legalizes illegal immigrants who have been in Greece for three years.
According to Article 4 of the amendment introduced by the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum, foreigners staying in Greece without permission for three yearswill receive a legal residence permit from the Secretariat of the Decentralized Administration if they submit the appropriate application.
Let us remind you that until now only those who have lived in Greece for at least 7 years could apply for a residence permit.
The amendment legalizes not only those who are illegally in Greece until November 30, 2023, but also their family members!
The reason for this decision is that Greek agriculture suffers from a shortage of low-skilled workers, who are needed primarily during the harvest.
