Doctors amputate the leg of a policeman who was hit by a flare


Doctors at the Athens General Hospital are fighting for the life of a 31-year-old policeman injured in Renti.

Doctors at the General Hospital of Nikea amputated the leg of a policeman injured by a naval missile during the Renti riots. In particular, doctors proceeded to amputate the left lower limb due to irreversible ischemic damage and extensive muscle necrosis in the area of ​​the wound on the policeman’s thigh.

Let us recall that the injured MAT employee, who was on duty on the night of Thursday 7/12 at Renty Stadium, was seriously injured by a Navy flare. To this day, he remains intubated in the hospital’s intensive care unit, with doctors fighting to save his life.

Doctors’ statement

“According to the attending physicians, today the patient underwent amputation of the left lower limb due to irreversible ischemic damage and extensive muscle necrosis in the area of ​​the thigh wound, as well as in order to avoid local septic and systemic complications and a sharp deterioration in the patient’s condition. He remains in hospital. in the intensive care unit in critical condition, under anesthesia and an artificial respiration apparatus. Hemodynamic support is provided with the help of vasoconstrictors and exonephrotic dialysis,” say doctors at the General State Hospital of Nikea.
