Arahova: Supreme Court intervention in husky abuse case

The intervention of the Supreme Court prosecutor’s office was prompted by the brutal torture of a dog in Arachova, which eventually died.

In particular, an urgent investigation to arrest the person responsible for torturing a dog in Arachova was declared by Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court Anastasia Masura, who is responsible for animal protection. This incident forced Ms. Masura to intervene in the situation.

The prosecutor ordered the Livadia prosecutor’s office, to which Arakhova belongs, to conduct an urgent investigation to establish the identity of the criminal and asked to immediately inform her about developments. The incident has already mobilized the police and municipal authorities of the area, and caused a strong reaction on social networks due to the unprecedented cruelty to the animal, which managed to return home, but did not survive.

“It cannot be that the culprit was an ordinary passer-by.”, say animal welfare organizations. According to the head of the Panhellenic Group against Cruelty to Animals, Martha Pultidou, “It can’t be that the person who did this was just passing by, it can’t be that the animal followed an unknown person. He knew the criminal.”

The story of the cruel abuse of a husky dog ​​by an unknown person took place on Sunday evening (26/11) in Arachova. “The dog was taken by unknown people from the yard of my house in the Sfalaki area, which is located on a hill.”– her owner told protothema.gr.

“The dog came home the next day in a miserable state. He was bleeding and looked like he had been abused. He was gagged because I noticed his mouth was swollen.”he adds.

The owner took the husky to a veterinary clinic in Itea and a veterinarian who examined him discovered that he had been abused by inserting a sharp object into his anus. “He had a serious wound in the anal area from a sharp object“, the report says.

The dog was operated on, but 10 hours later he died of cardiac arrest. “I brought it home, but the poor thing couldn’t stand it and died.”– the owner of the husky described the tragic end of the story.

PS I am also outraged by the fact of abuse of the poor dog, but I want to once again ask the question: when will such attention from the authorities and the public be drawn to every similar fact of violence against people? After all, almost every day in the country there are abuses and murders of people, to which the police and investigative authorities turn a blind eye. As a result, thousands of cases go into the archives without a court verdict.
