Marijuana gummies lead to hospitalization


A 20-year-old man was taken to the hospital with symptoms of poisoning after consuming chewing gummies containing cannabis and HHC (a minor cannabinoid), which have become popular among young people and are commercially available.

The incident occurred in Salamis on November 9 and became known after the fainting of three students in Halicarnassus, who chewed nicotine sticks in the school toilet.

Let us remember, as the Athens News previously wrote, they allegedly became ill from using unknown substances. According to local media, students reported feeling dizzy and unwell.

In particular, two 15-year-old girls and a 14-year-old boy were found almost unconscious in the toilet of Helicarnassos High School in Heraklion. Classmates reported this to the principal, who immediately called the ambulance service, and the minors were transported to the hospital.

Local media At first it was assumed that the cause of the students’ fainting was use of drugs or their analogues. Following the ambulances, they rushed to the school policemen, who began to look for the parents of minors for further investigation.

Commenting on the incident, the curator of the Salamis Medical Center, Dimitris Manaras, explained: “There may be specific cannabis products that are sold over the counter that are low in cannabinoids, but imagine what could happen if they were consumed in large quantities.”
