Murder of 17-year-old girl in Peristeri: “She cursed Muhammad”

A court decision was announced today against a 23-year-old Pakistani man who killed his 17-year-old girlfriend Nicoletta in Peristeri in the summer of 2022.

In its decision, the court unanimously found the accused guilty of murdering the girl and, without recognizing any mitigating circumstances, sentenced him to life imprisonment. The relatives of the unfortunate girl almost lynched the perpetrator of the brutal crime, shouting at him.

During his last word in court, the young man stated that he had been in a relationship with the girl for 1.5 years, and that the reason for their quarrel was his decision to leave Greece and go to Italy. According to him, the girl, setting out her version of events, asked him to be baptized as a Christian, and during the quarrel she insulted Muhammad…

Describing the moments of the crime, the guy gave his own version, saying the following during his apology: “I started to leave and she started throwing my clothes. I told her to sit on the bed and she started swearing at me and cursing Mohammed. I pushed her off the bed and said: “Sit here.” She continued to scold me and Muhammad and I became angry.

I grabbed her by the throat and started saying: “Who is telling you such x@@$$ while I’m listening to you?” At this time, I grabbed her head and told her to apologize. She grabbed my hand and told me to let her go. I didn’t let go and kept telling her to apologize. After a few seconds I saw that her eyes were closed. Then I gave her water, gave her air. I was on edge and left the house.”

Chairman of the court: “Why didn’t you tell them to send an ambulance?”

Defendant: “That was the biggest mistake.”

Chairman of the court: “What did you do next?”

Defendant: “I took my things and left the house. I went to my brother to get some money and went to Larissa station to catch the train to Thessaloniki.”

Chairman of the court: “When did you find out that the girl was dead?”

Defendant: “The next day, from the Internet. I called my father and told him that I had made a mistake.

He asked me what happened and I told him about the girl. He got angry and hung up. Then I found my compatriot who does work for immigrants and told him that I wanted to leave and he could help me.”

In the end, the guy apologized to the family of the unfortunate girl. “I wanted to apologize to you and my friend’s family. I know apologizing won’t do anything, but it’s all I can do.”– he said.

At the beginning of the hearing and later, tension was felt, the victim’s father broke into a cry: “Don’t look at me at all, you’ll rot in prison!” Police removed him from the courtroom to calm him down and the furious father was heard saying: “Losing a daughter in a car accident – I understand that, but losing her like that, and then having her strangled?”

In fact, earlier in his court testimony he said that he objected to his daughter’s affair with a guy, about whom, in particular, he said: “He wanted and did it. I want him to have no fate under the sun, so that he never sees the sun. Let the life sentences be life sentences.”

In her own testimony to those gathered, the sister of the unfortunate Nicoletta said: “I believe he did it out of jealousy because two children arrived in the house that day and he didn’t want those children. I immediately realized that he had committed a crime because his things were not in the house.”

A week before, my mother was talking to my sister and she told her: “Mom, wait a week and I will divorce him.”
