In Kaningos Square, a police operation to capture a sexual maniac nicknamed the “Dragon of Exarchia”, who has been terrorizing young women in the center of Athens in recent days, has ended.
About a day after the incidents began, the police managed to find the young man who attacked the women and handcuff him to put him behind bars. The identification of a 23-year-old Syrian man, currently accused of six attempted rapes, was published by Greek media.
As it became known, another attack by the “Dragon of Exarchia” occurred on October 24, 2023. The victim K.M., 18 years old, was waiting at a bus stop on Poseidonos Avenue in Glyfada (Attica). Near the store of a famous restaurant chain, an unknown person approached her and, unzipping his fly, began to masturbate. The girl immediately began to call her friend, moving away from the scene of the incident.
Nevertheless, the criminal followed her and, in order to immobilize her, attacked her from behind, covering her mouth and nose with his hand. The victim of the maniac’s attack resisted, causing them both to fall to the ground. Moreover, K.M. received a minor injury. At this time, her friend ran to the scene and began to call for help. The criminal escaped.
The information states that the detainee has been in prison since August 2022 and was released from the Grevena penitentiary just three months ago, in August of this year. Sources report that “Dragon of Exarchia” was in prison for attacking and attempting to rape a Ukrainian woman in August 2022. The man was taken into custody on August 10, however… he did not have time to appear in court and was released 12 months later, on 08/11/2023!
According to descriptions of its recent victims, the “Dragon of Exarchia” is of average height, blond, with fair skin and blue eyes. Earlier, a new video document was published, which shows how the criminal grabs a woman in the entrance of a building on Sturnari Street.
Let us remind you that The first complaint was filed by a 13-year-old girl, who reported that she was attacked outside the gym at noon on November 18. According to her, the criminal immobilized her and tried to rape her.
The second complaint was filed by a 29-year-old woman who was attacked on the morning of November 20 at the intersection of Nikitara and Benaki streets. The woman said that the man followed her while she was walking to the Omonia metro station and threw her to the ground with the intention of raping her. The victim of the maniac screamed, as a result of which passers-by gathered, and the criminal disappeared.
Ten minutes later, the “Dragon of Exarchia” attacked another woman, near the church “Zoodokhu Pigis” (near Omonia). The criminal put his hand over her mouth and tried to rape her. The woman, in a state of shock, began to call for help and managed to escape from him. Thus, the criminal escaped once again.
