A Greek-owned merchant ship carrying grain was slightly damaged off the coast of Ukraine. It probably hit a floating sea mine.
How reports Reuters, citing maritime experts, the Liberian-flagged bulk carrier Georgia S, loaded with wheat, set off from the Ukrainian port of Yuzhny on Thursday and was damaged on the high seas.
The ship was last bound for the Romanian port of Constanta on Friday, according to ship tracking and maritime analytics company MarineTraffic. The Greek company Seagate Navigation, which owns the ship, did not immediately respond to reporters’ requests for comment.
Let us recall that on October 16, a tanker with oil products flying the flag of Liberia came across a mine in the Black Sea off the coast of Romania, and on October 5, a Turkish cargo ship hit a mine off the Romanian coast, but remained almost undamaged.
