The trial of Daria Trepova has begun; she is accused of the murder of “military correspondent” Vladlen Tatarsky

Yesterday in St. Petersburg, the Second Western District Military Court, at an off-site session, began considering the criminal case initiated against Daria Trepova.

She is accused of murdering war correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky. According to the Russian TASS agency, Trepova brought an explosive device to the evening with Tatarsky, which was activated using an Estonian SIM card, the state prosecutor said. How tells BB.LV, Trepova is accused of terrorism, illegal trafficking in explosive devices and using a fake driver’s license. She has been in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center since April 4.

Later, the FSB also accused Ukrainian citizen Yuri Denisov of involvement in the crime, who, according to the security forces, collected information about Tatarsky and, through an intermediary, handed over the figurine to Trepova. And journalist Roman Popkov, according to investigators, coordinated the entire process.

According to investigators, Trepova, at the direction of people from Ukraine, on April 2, 2023, brought a figurine containing an explosive to Street Food Bar No. 1 and handed it to Tatarsky. He was killed in the explosion and 52 people were injured. According to the Russian Investigative Committee, 85 people are victims in the case.

The accused claims that she did not know about the bomb and regrets what happened. Along with Trepova, her friend Dmitry Kasintsev, with whom the girl hid after the terrorist attack, is also being tried. The defendants were asked to express their attitude to the charges brought against them. Trepova stated that she did not admit guilt for the terrorist attack or illegal trafficking in an explosive device, and only agreed with the charge of forging a driver’s license. Kasintsev admitted partial guilt.

After the explosion, he was taken to the hospital, where he died in intensive care. Sergei Chaulin, a pro-Russian activist expelled from Estonia, was also present at the event; he was wounded.
