“Not worth attention,” IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari commented on Yemen’s challenge.
He said that the Israeli military is focused on the Gaza Strip and will not be distracted by Yemen, however, if necessary, it will defend itself against the Houthis:
“There are many actors in the region who are acting as proxies of Iran, such as the Houthis, who are trying to challenge us and distract us from the war in Gaza. We remain focused. We are focused on the war in Gaza.”
Recall that on Tuesday, October 31, the Yemeni armed forces said that they launched a missile attack on Israel and noted that attacks using missiles and drones will continue until Israeli aggression stops. Yemen’s Houthis have officially entered the war between Israel and Hamas.
Houthi military spokesman General Yahya Sarie Anu said during a live broadcast that the group had launched a “large number” of ballistic missiles and drones towards Israel. He also announced that such attacks there will be more to help the Palestinians win. The general added that this was the third Houthi attack on Israel since the conflict began.
Israeli National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi called the Houthi strikes “unbearable” but declined to specify how Israel would respond.
Despite the fact that the distance between the two countries is about 1,600 kilometers, and they are separated by Saudi Arabia, the Houthis have serious weapons that can hit such a distance.
Journalists from Defense Express analyzed parade held by Yemen’s Houthis in September to get an idea of the group’s weapons. Among the arsenal on display are Ghadr-F missiles (locally called Toufan), with a range of 2,000 km and an estimated warhead weight of 750-800 kg with a launch weight of 19 tons.
