Two English women have received criminal sentences for an incident in a car park in Faliraki.
A complaint was filed with the police about what happened in the parking lot, and as a result they ended up in the dock. And the following happened in Faliraki on the island of Rhodes: tells CNN Greece.
The women, aged 31 and 35, drove a rental car into a private parking lot at approximately 8:30 pm on October 16. The parking lot belongs to a 30-year-old man and his 67-year-old father. When the ladies were asked to leave the territory, they not only verbally insulted and threatened the owners, but also ran over one of them with a car, injuring them.
In the heat of a verbal altercation, the driver of the car backed up and allegedly tried to hit the young man, but the father pushed him away and was himself injured when the car hit him.
The English women were arrested and criminal charges were brought against them for the following offenses: insults, attempted grievous bodily harm, repeated joint threats.
The case was heard by the three-member Rhodes Criminal Court on Friday 20 October. The result was a sentence for both women: the 31-year-old was sentenced to prison for a term of 20 months, suspended for three years, and the 35-year-old was sentenced to prison for 8 months, suspended for 3 years.
In court, the women denied their guilt, claiming that they simply wanted to park their car, but did not notice how they injured the elderly man.
