The Ukrainian Armed Forces for the first time occupied a bridgehead on the left bank of the Dnieper River in the Kherson region, and they managed to gain a foothold there.
How writes Air Force, the goal of Ukraine’s counteroffensive in the south is to cut the land corridor to the Crimean Peninsula. There are heavy battles there, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to take full control of the village of Krynki. If this succeeds, the newspaper notes, the forward units will have a base from which to launch a larger offensive aimed at dividing Russian troops and cutting off their supply lines.
The US Institute for the Study of War ISW said Ukrainian forces were continuing larger-than-usual ground operations on the east bank. Russian military bloggers also write about the intensification of hostilities in the area of the village of Krynki.
However, the Ukrainian military admits that even if it is possible to take Krynki, a repeat of the operation in the style of the 1944 landing in Normandy is unlikely. Existing problems worsen as winter approaches. Conditions worsen for both sides. Rainy weather affects the operation of drones, reconnaissance equipment and aircraft. But the military does not expect an end to hostilities: “Winter will not be a time for respite.”
