Israel: Hamas attack kills more than 300, 1,590 injured, dozens kidnapped

Hamas boasts that the number of hostages is significantly higher than Israel knows. The death toll has exceeded 300 and is expected to continue to rise.

By information The Times of Israel, among the 1,500 wounded, many are in serious condition. Dozens of civilians and IDF soldiers were kidnapped and taken to Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday October 8 wrote on social network X:

“We are entering a long and difficult war, forced to do so by the murderous attack of Hamas. The first phase ends at this time with the destruction of most of the enemy forces that have penetrated into our territory. At the same time, we have begun the offensive phase, and it will continue without respite until the target will not be achieved. We will return security to the citizens of Israel and win.”

Earlier, the Prime Minister spoke with address to the nationpromising to use the “full might” of the country’s IDF army to destroy Hamas capabilities in the Gaza Strip:

“We will turn all the places in this evil city where Hamas hides into ruins. The Israeli army will use all its power. Residents of Gazan, get out of there immediately because we will act everywhere with full force.”

Israel has already responded with a wave of airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, killing more than 230 people, officials say. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has promised “mighty vengeance” against Palestinian militants for what he called a “black day,” and the Israeli army has asked residents of several areas of the Gaza Strip to leave their homes in preparation for retaliatory strikes against Hamas. writes Air Force.

Israel announced the restoration of control over most of the southern settlements, reports Haaretz, citing an Israeli army spokesman. He said that on Saturday the army regained control over most of the settlements on the border with the Gaza Strip, which were infiltrated by Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants: Sderot, Sofa, Kerem Shalom, Nirim, Naziv Hatara, Nir Oz, the Nahal Oz outpost , Hulit, Nir-Am, Nir-Yitzhak, Beersheba, Sde-Emen, Magen and Urim.

The Israeli military says a “significant number” of Israeli civilians and soldiers are being held hostage by the Palestinian militant group Hamas. Among those captured are children, women, old people and disabled people. Some are alive and some are believed to be dead, military spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus said. A number of videos are circulating on the Internet claiming that Israelis are in the hands of Hamas militants. One published video confirmed by the BBC showed a truck allegedly carrying Israeli hostages driving through a crowd in the Gaza Strip.

A state of emergency has been declared throughout the country. The police have the right to impose a curfew, declare areas prohibited for visiting, and inspect the personal belongings and property of citizens. This is especially true for cars. Law enforcement may use smart force against civilians if they do not comply with their orders. We are even talking about breaking into private homes.
