In his typically provocative manner, Labor Minister Adonis Georgiadis responded to criticism of his activities and the bill, which, in essence, abolishes the eight-hour working day.
Minister, who some time ago talked about a 24-hour workday with 27 hours so that workers could work 16 hours. Then, realizing that he had made a mistake, he started talking about 13 hours of work, and the “extra” 5 hours would help workers retire faster. Now he generally argues that citizens perceive changes in labor rights in a “positive light.” To support his words, he referred to today’s 24-hour nationwide strike against his bill.
“Today’s strike failed”– the Minister of Labor said defiantly from the rostrum of parliament, adding that “The workers support the changes we have made.” In his usual Hell style. Georgiadis used non-participation as an argument to support his words ΓΣΕΕ in strikes.
“Is this a massive reaction to the bill abolishing the 8-hour, 5-day workweek? Either people are in deep sleep, or the bill doesn’t repeal any of this.”he said, causing a strong reaction from the KKE wing, which forced chairman Georgios Georgantas to intervene.
Moreover, he took it to the next level by responding to ΣΥΡΙΖΑ-ΠΣ MP Nassos Iliopoulos. “Show me the CocaCola plant that didn’t work today, only professional strikers didn’t work, – he said. – Trade unionists go on strike to make a quick buck without the consent of those they represent.”

It is worth noting that, unlike in previous years, few people actually went on strike today. And this is the merit of the trade union leaders and politicians of the left parties, who made it clear to the population of Greece that the strikes they organize have no practical benefit, the authorities ignore them, and they do not bring any useful results for the workers.
The government understands this, and ministers such as Georgiadis openly ridicule the left, pointing out their disunity, disorganization and inability to captivate the masses.
